Texarkana, Texas, is 64 miles north of Shreveport, Louisiana. The community was named after its location near the state lines of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana, however, some sources claim the name came from a 1860 steamboat or from a drink called "Texarkana Bitters". Texarkana also is the location of Red River Army Depot, whose maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles, as well as the Army's light tracked combat vehicle fleet.
