Colleges in Pennsylvania

Many of our country's founding fathers hailed from Pennsylvania, where they met in Philadelphia in 1774 to form the first Continental Congress. From rolling Amish hill country to the humid summers of bustling Philadelphia, Pennsylvania offers educational and recreational opportunities galore to Army personnel and dependents. Historical sites dot the state and nightlife, dining, live music, theatre, amusement parks, and professional sport teams in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. The state also offers plenty of recreational activities with 85,000 miles of streams and rivers and 4,000 lakes.

The Army maintains bases at Carlisle Barracks, Fort Indiantown GAP, Charles E. Kelly Support Facility, Tobyhanna Army Depot, and the Letterkenny Army Depot. Pennsylvania is home to 235 colleges and universities and 323 private schools. Philadelphia alone is home to more than 40,000 college students.
