Colleges in Kansas
Kansas, or the Sunflower State, has around 2,688,000 residents, with the largest city within the state being Wichita. Those who call Kansas home have the luxury of enjoying all four seasons. In general, the winters are rather mild and the summer months are warm.
A visit to Kansas can lead you to great outdoor adventures in one of the 6 National Parks the state offers. Tourists and residents enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, camping and visits to arboretums, gardens, nature centers, wineries, cattle and cowboy towns, scenic byways, and museums rich with the state's history.
The state of Kansas is the home to two U.S. Army bases, Fort Leavenworth and Fort Riley. Both of these bases are located in the Northern region of the state. Kansas State University and Wichita State University are two Kansas schools that are on the GI Jobs Magazine's 2010 list of Military Friendly Schools. You can even find some Kansas colleges that support regional military installations and have veteran counselors on staff to offer support to its military students.
