Fort Rucker is the Army Aviation Warfighting Center, located in southeastern Alabama. It's 80 miles south of Montgomery, 80 miles north of the Florida Gulf Coast, and 20 miles from Dothan. Fort Rucker is an imposing military community. There are 16,000 military personnel, civilians, and family members on the base, and 147,000 off-post family members, and retirees and their families. Child care, schools, stores, banks, and a health clinic serve those on post. For recreation, you'll find woodshop, arts and crafts, auto hobby, hunting, horse riding, and bowling.
Fort Rucker Education
The Education Center provides support if you continue your studies at Fort Rucker. Colleges that offer classes on base:

- Enterprise-Ozark Community College
- Wallace Community College
There are also many online education options for those who wish to take courses online. Things to do within 20 miles of Fort Rucker include hiking the Azalea Dogwood Trail, Future Masters Golf Tour, Wiregrass Museum of Art, and The Opera House.
