New Combat Action Badge to Be Awarded During Pentagon Ceremony

 

MEMORANDUM FOR CORRESPONDENTS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEThe Army will award its new Combat Action Badge (CAB) for the first time on June 29, 2005. The CAB, approved by Gen. Peter J. Schoomaker, Army Chief of Staff, will be awarded to five Soldiers who have engaged in combat with the enemy. Soldiers engaged in the war on terrorism since September 18, 2001, are retroactively eligible to receive the award.

WHEN: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2005

WHERE: The Pentagon, Warrior Ethos display on the 3rd floor, A ring at 3rd and 4th corridor interchange

WHO: Presentations will be made by Chief of Staff of the Army, General Peter J. Schoomaker and Sergeant Major of the Army, Kenneth O. Preston.
