There’s not much going on today. We have a class on loyalty later and “post detail” in scheduled almost all day. They asked for five volunteers for it. I have no idea what the non volunteers are doing. I broke my rule of not volunteering for anything in BCT and I became one of the five. I heard we might get a privilege like a phone call out of it. The tools for the job are leather gloves and E-tool (foldable shovel. Fits in small case), so I assume I’ll be doing some gardening. Around here, that means pulling weeds and cutting grass with a 50 year old mower.
I brought my pocket notebook to class today. It will prevent me from falling asleep and make me look like I’m taking copious notes. It will also free up some personal time.
Here I am in a waiting room w/19 other privates waiting for further instruction. I’m starting to think our detail (job) is to warm up the seats. No problem here.
Nobody came to pick us up. Did we get an “I’m sorry for wasting your time?” Ha! Hold on. I got tears of laughter rolling down my cheek. Ahem.
We had a nice little run and have been chilling all day. We got our MILES gear. It’s a vest, a halo, and a sensor for the rifle. Laser tag in the woods! I can’t wait until Thursday, when we get to use it. We’ll be throwing dummy grenades later to practice for tomorrow. It’s a really easy day. I guess even the DSs wanted to take a break since it’s a holiday.
Tonight and all day tomorrow I have KP (kitchen work). I’m going to fill my canteen with chocolate milk and eat all the leftover cake possible. And don’t worry. I get out for grenades and the 10K march. Hopefully the adverse effects of the milk and cake don’t kill me during the march.
I talked to D.S. Boston about my finance problem again. He said, “Private, don’t you know what today is?” Of course I ******* know it’s a holiday. But now it’s fresh on his mind for Wednesday. We don’t do anything but get measured for our class A uniforms (Yay!). I’ll see if he can take me then.
Oh man. Today had a perfect ending. I ate a huge piece of lasagna for dinner and I got mail from my girl. I can’t wait for KP tomorrow. I get to eat first every meal. I’m gonna have two boxes of Lucky Charms. No DSs there to stop me from getting more than one since we eat before the platoons get there. Hmm, it’s my last KP of BCT. Maybe I’ll take three.
